Some clients will have pre-existing conditions with which tattooing may not ever be performed.
- Autoimmune Disease: Autoimmune diseases or treatments that cause immunodeficiencies, such as chemotherapy, make clients prone to infection and a risk factor for the technician.
- Hemophilia: Bleeding disorders may result in poor clotting and healing.
- Liver Disease: A body with liver disease is no longer able to fight off toxins or infections and should not undergo the tattoo treatment.
- Hypertrophic or Keloid Scars: These clients are more likely to develop scarring and former treatments or scarring may prohibit the practitioner from performing new treatments.
- HIV/AIDS: Due to a risk of cross-infection and a weakened immune system, treatment may not be completed on someone with HIV/AIDS.
- Hepatitis: Dangers of cross-infection are too high to paramedical tattooing on someone with Hepatitis.
- Serious Heart Disorders or Blood Infections: Due to high risk factors and cross-contamination, treatment should not be performed if the client has heart disorders or blood infections.
- Hyperpigmentation: Very dark patches on the skin can prohibit the technician's ability to perform the treatment.
